Description

Treachery in Beatdown City is a dark comedy set in an alternate reality future. Now in his third term, the US President, Barak Orama, is kidnapped by Ninja Dragon Terrorists. The billionaire mayor, Mike Moneybags, has shut down the police, demanding funding from the government. The police chief, Antonio Santiago, calls on three unique fighters, Lisa Santiago, Bruce Maxwell and Brad "The Bull Killer" Steele, to rescue the president. Players will use an all new tactical beat 'em up fighting system to fight through thugs, punks, ninjas, cybgorgs, as well as gentrification, racism and more on a global quest to bring the president back alive.

History

Early history

Treachery in Beatdown City was started, like many others, as a passion project in Game Maker, while working in AAA game development. We wanted to make the best beat 'em up we could, and we worked at it for a while. It was in 2012 that game development shifted to full time after completing a first prototype. We found the fun, so we kept going forward with it.

Playstation Mobile

Soon after completing that prototype Treachery in Beatdown City became a Managed Project for Playstation Mobile, an exciting opportunity for indies to get onto Playstation products. The game's initial teaser was featured on Vitas around the country, and the game went on to be shown at Sony events at GDC, E3 and more.

Kickstarter

Eventually the Playstation Mobile program began winding down, and Treachery in Beatdown City moved on to seeking funding on Kickstarter to continue development, and managed to be successful, with over 1200 fans helping to fund the game.

A sign of the times

After a few years in development, a cycle that was affected mostly by life issues, Treachery in Beatdown City is back, is being shown to fans at events, and is currently on course for release in 2017. What began as a game about a ridiculous vision of a dystopian future, is now ready to launch under somehow even more dour times. The years of development have helped the humor in Treachery in Beatdown City to grow, and create a dark comedy game intent on punching up at the forces of evil!
